Most Congested UK Cities Revealed

Before you up sticks and move on to pastures new, there’s one thing you need to do – and that’s research the area you want to move to so that there are no nasty surprises once you’ve moved into your new house.

New research from Admiral has just revealed that London, Bristol, Glasgow and London are in fact the most congested cities, while Leeds, Southampton and Cardiff have the least traffic… so perhaps bear this in mind if you’re going to be commuting in and out of a city for work.

The study also found that drivers spend an average of ten extra days over the course of a year just sitting in their cars because of congestion.

Motor product manager at Admiral Jo Cox said: “These figures confirm what motorists have long suspected – that they spend a huge amount of wasted time sitting in their cars. You are more likely to be involved in an accident where you bump the car in front during rush hour than at any time of the day. These rear end bumps are the most common type too. Planning your journey and leaving plenty of time is key if you want to avoid being late or put undue pressure on yourself. That will make your drive safer and less fraught.”

Before you look for a property, you should also make sure you choose an area you can afford to live in and also consider if you want somewhere with a lot of life, if you want to be able to walk to local shops, for example. Also check the crime rate, schools, council tax rates and transport links.
